Kirkland Stables is a family owned and operated business located in the foothills of the Cumberland Moutains. Glenda Kirkland brings years of equine and livestock experience to the business. Her children and grandchildren have enjoyed many years of show ring success.
Glenda worked as a veterinary assistant directly assisting with equine anesthesia, surgeries, blood collection, equine reproduction, and ambulatory calls. As owner and farm manager of Kirkland Stables, Glenda oversees herd health, handling stallions, mare care, yearling prep and all show ring preparation.
In 2000, Glenda and her prized gelding, Mark’s Mr. Shaker walked away with the Trail Pleasure Championship title and Reserve Trail Pleasure World Championship at the National Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration. In addition to his Celebration wins, Mark also walked away with the numerous International Grand Championships and International Equitation Youth Grand Championship title & roses with Jeren Guthrie McCluskey.
Another show ring favorite and top contender, Boomerang’s Threat, went on to win countless International Grand Championship titles in Open, Amateur and Youth ranks.
Son of Dude, recorded by the Walking Horse Report, was the most winning pleasure horse in the United States. Dude won every major title in the Tennessee Walking Horse industry, before he peacefully was laid to rest on January 18, 2010.
